Just another jam night

For some time now our Friday club nights have been ” going off ” to coin a phrase. Last night was a classic example… a group of people from all facets of our towns social structure coming together to absorb and create the synegy of spontanious creativity that oozes from our club walls down in the boondocks and out into the Nth Otago darkness. We heard tired old covers being played in their diverse formats… the unique brilliance and creative offerings of Midge Mcleary sharing his music with the folks. Big Tanya and Little Paula seperately belting out the blues just like Bessie and Janice did in their day and the New Zealand Ukelele Orchestra just dropping in after their gig at the opera house to enthral and delight a packed house with a few numbers.  My sincere thanks to all these people: performers and punters alike, who contribute their presence and feed the kudos that is uniquely The Penguin Club and make me damn proud to be it’s current president.
