Eve of Anarchy

Sharmaine, Oamaru’s most elegant librarian had a dream of an evening of Live Metal bands and this gig at the Penguin Club was the result of that dream. Seven Bands from all over the country gathered to maim the ears of the common folk and the result was most pleasant. First up was Timaru’s ‘Hell Comes to Frogtown’ I have been disappointed with many hard Rock bands when the powerful Music is not matched by an equally powerful singer. Not so with this band Leadman Russel has a powerful presence and his vocals balance well with the relentless intricate guitar from Scott and timely beats from Rob. I look forward to hearing more from this band on the 8th May when they return to the club with The ‘Bristol Fighters’

Next up was Belial. The music moved into a darker edge here, with some emotive discordia. Made in China hit he stage with their usual flair and energy. Sam did not disappoint on vocals and strutting, Mike on drums, two great guitarists and Cam (from osmium) standing in for Malcolm. Intergracia are on a tour with fellow Wellington band Nort and both joined the bill. Intergracia’s melodic yet powerful sound had the dance floor full. Nort amped up the night further with a fast high energy set. Osmium were next with their own rocky, edgy sound and the final blast was delivered by ‘Special Neadz’ ( sans Justin). With so many acts each band had only 30 mins and it was not enough. They all left the stage with the audience wanting more. Thanks Sharmaine and Ben for your vision . Eve of Anarchy 2010 ?
